The Youth Art Fund (YAF) participated in the founding of the Youth Orchestral Academy of the Havana Lyceum Orchestra of the Office of the Historian of the City.
This initiative entailed the creation a new training space to provide young Cuban musicians with valuable resources and experiences for their future professional performance.
Its first curriculum will promote systematic exchange with Cuban and international professors with vast experience in teaching and performing within orchestral ensembles, in order to promote the training of twelve young strings players selected after an audition process.
With this exchange, the YAF inaugurated a cooperation modality that extends to the financing of institutional projects and cultural organizations that promote young Cuban art. The cooperation with the Havana Lyceum also constitutes a precedent in our development as a professional teaching identity, with good pedagogical practices that facilitate young artists’ access to specialized knowledge and national and international academic exchange, as well as a methodological entity that accompanies the implementation of integral and sustainable management models.
The Youth Orchestral Academy also has the support and collaboration of the Balthasar Neumann Academy of Germany, the Esteban Salas Musical Heritage Office, Sacred Music Department of the Father Félix Varela Cultural Center and the Cuban Music Institute.
