Samdor Ramírez (Cienfuegos, 2000) graduado de la Universidad de las Artes (ISA) en la especialidad de flauta en 2024. He was professor of flute at the Conservatory of Music “Alejandro García Caturla” and currently works at the National School of Music (ENA). He is alternating principal flute in the Orquesta Sinfónica del Gran Teatro de La Habana since 2019, performing his artistic evaluation in 2023 obtaining First Level.
She is a flutist in the Orchestra of the Lyceum of Havana. He was a finalist in the International Competition La Flauta Latinoamericana 2021 and 2022, and winner of the second prize in the National Flute Competition “Roberto Ondina in Memoriam”.
He has participated in important festivals such as the Chamber Music Festival, organized by Frank Fernández (2015); the Festival de Música Contemporánea “Leo Brouwer” (2016); the II Festival Internacional Flautístico Nymph Project República Dominicana (2021); the Festival Internacional de Vientos y Voces Iberoamericanas 2021, the Festival Habana Clásica (2023), among others.
The Fondo de Arte Joven (FAJ) supports the project “Flauta Cubana: Los Millenials y la Generación Z,” a record production that compiles and presents the most outstanding works by young Cuban composers, with a focus on the flute as the main instrument. In this way, the work of young composers is promoted both in Cuba and abroad, and serves as a sonorous testimony of the diversity, depth and originality of contemporary musical creation for the flute on the island.
