A representation of the Youth Art Fund (YAF), composed of Lorenzo Suárez, president of the YAF Board of Directors, and Neida Peñalver, the YAF’s general coordinator, arrived in the city of Santiago de Cuba as part of a visit to the country’s eastern region by Swiss Cooperation to visit several SDC projects.
The itinerary included a meeting to organize the details of this third collaboration between the SDC and the Caguayo Foundation, in the 2nd Edition of the René Valdés Cedeño Contemporary Art Salon, organized by the Foundation in this city.
At the event, which will take place between October 2 and 6, 2023, the YAF will award a collateral prize consisting of funding for a creative project to be developed by the young artist whose work receives the accolade.
The selection will be made on the basis of the specialized criteria of YAF specialists who will personally participate in the exhibition organized by the Salon.
This Contemporary Art Salon, with a regional call addressed to all artists from Camagüey to Guantánamo, aims at encouraging artistic creation, fostering the promotion of their work. It is also a platform to establish collaborations within the Cuban art circuit in various fields, with the main objective of positioning the art of eastern Cuba in the panorama of contemporary Cuban art.
