The Fondo de Arte Joven (FAJ) celebrates the month of Europe in Cuba 2024 with a concert that combines the ancestral sonorities of the hurdy-gurdy and tambura - traditional instruments of European music - with the energy and passion of jazz. The experience, unprecedented in Cuban stages, will be led by composers and performers German Diaz (Spain) and Filip Novosel (Croatia), special guests who will share the stage with young Cuban musicians who won the calls launched by the platform, a year after its creation.
The concert presentation will be the climax of a creative and academic exchange and an encounter between artists of different generations, between the past and the present, between Cuba and Europe, through innovative sounds and musical arrangements, specially worked by guitarist and composer Dayron Ortiz for this premiere, with musical direction by Yosvany Terry and Lorenzo Suarez, and the special collaboration of the outstanding percussionist Ruy Lopez-Nussa.
The show, scheduled for next Sunday, May 5 at the theater of the National Museum of Fine Arts at 7:00 p.m., promises a magical and evocative atmosphere to the audience, with an encounter between the past and the present through music.
Funded and produced by the FAJ, in collaboration with the Delegation of the European Union in Cuba, the event pursues common objectives of strategic support to equip emerging Cuban art with the necessary tools to carry out their creative projects from the island, as well as to strengthen cultural ties and promote intercultural dialogue in an increasingly connected and diverse world.
Interactions of this kind are a key factor in the expansion and enrichment of the contemporary art scene, promoting diversity, innovation and exchange between artists of different nationalities and traditions.
These articulations also mean an open door to a strategic future of collaborations for FAJ, where new donors from state and private sectors, both on the Island and abroad, interested in contributing resources to help co-finance our actions, providing them with greater possibilities of sustainability, may join us.
