Blanco, noviembre, 2023 \u2013 febrero, 2024.<\/p><p><em>La pl\u00e1stica cubana actual es como una m\u00e1quina que sigue funcionando despu\u00e9s que se par\u00f3 el motor. A pesar de la p\u00e9rdida del clima cultural de los 80, el \u00e9xodo intelectual, la contracci\u00f3n de la ense\u00f1anza del arte, el jineteo y la situaci\u00f3n extrema en la que se encuentra el pa\u00eds, los artistas siguen brotando en Cuba como mala yerba.<\/em> As\u00ed comienzan las palabras al cat\u00e1logo de <em>Las met\u00e1foras del templo<\/em>, una exposici\u00f3n colectiva devenida en hito para la historiograf\u00eda del arte cubano contempor\u00e1neo. Una muestra realizada en 1993, una n\u00f3mina de artistas muy j\u00f3venes entonces \u2013hoy figuras relevantes del panorama visual en la Isla\u2013, y un texto escrito por el curador y cr\u00edtico Gerardo Mosquera. Treinta a\u00f1os han pasado.\u00a0<\/p><p>Si se obviara la referencia a la d\u00e9cada de los 80, aquella cita pudiera ubicarse en un entramado mucho m\u00e1s inmediato, en el cual se desarrolla actualmente la producci\u00f3n art\u00edstica en Cuba. No es la intenci\u00f3n comparar ambas generaciones de creadores, ni se intenta afirmar que se han mantenido invariables las caracter\u00edsticas que definen el arte generado desde entonces y hasta hoy.<\/p><p>La idea de un nuevo concurso para las artes visuales en Cuba surge ante la necesidad de espacios de visibilidad y circulaci\u00f3n para el arte emergente, sostenida durante las \u00faltimas d\u00e9cadas.
