This week a group of young Haitian creators arrived in Havana to participate in the first Academic Residency Program promoted by the Youth Art Fund (YAF), with an emphasis on music and photography.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consisting of five photographers and four musicians from Haiti, the development of both profiles of the program includes classes organized by theme, cycles of conferences, lectures, and workshops given by Cuban professionals from different generations, with a recognized trajectory in the field and art teaching. Also participating are study centers, institutions, and cultural projects allied to the YAF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The residencies are an opportunity for young Haitians to share their experiences, knowledge, and cultural interests with their Cuban counterparts in similar manifestations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The numerous barriers to the professional development of young artists, their access to opportunities, and their insertion in the art market regardless of their professional skills and aptitudes are problems that transcend Cuba and also affect how cultural products from developing countries are promoted, exhibited, and consumed in the world. That is why the YAF intends to expand this experience to other regions of the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
