The presentation of the book \"La direcci\u00f3n orquestal sinf\u00f3nica y su expresi\u00f3n en Cuba\", by maestro Guido L\u00f3pez-Gavil\u00e1n, took place at the National Museum of Music in an intimate evening, surrounded by pupils, family members, young musicians and students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, Osmani Ibarra, deputy technical director of the museum, highlighted the importance of having a volume like this one in its library, as well as the value of the research, which will grant the master in 2023 the status of Doctor of Science on Art by the University of the Arts of Cuba (ISA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lorenzo Su\u00e1rez, founder of the Fondo de Arte Joven (FAJ) commented on the efforts made by the platform, in collaboration with Aurelia Ediciones, so that the doctoral research of maestro Guido could become a bibliographic reference material available to new generations of musicians and orchestra conductors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This edition features illustrations by young visual artist Giselle Luc\u00eda Navarro, winner of the call for designers and visual artists launched by the Fund for this purpose, and designer Yasser Fonseca, who offer depth to the editorial design of this issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For her part, Daiana Garc\u00eda, director of the Havana Chamber Orchestra and author of the prologue to the volume, stressed the importance of the research, as the first Cuban text that addresses this subject in depth and in which the historical-research and practical activity converge, from the perspective of the man who was not only her teacher, but also one of the most illustrious exponents of orchestral conducting on the island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, maestro Guido L\u00f3pez-Gavil\u00e1n, during his speech, referred to the structure of the volume, composed of three chapters that harmoniously combine the history of orchestral conducting in Cuba and its experience, theory and practice, emotions and gestures, the latter a fundamental element not only for the musician, but also for the spectator, who from the audience understands \"the magic of the conductor, as someone who bewitches the music,\" said the author.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting was also attended by the winners of the first edition of the National Music Competition, who had the honor of talking with the maestro, sharing tips and best practices. It was a space that brought together generations of musicians, fostering dialogue and exchange, one of the fundamental premises of FAJ, and of this initiative in particular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end, the FAJ delivered several copies to the museum's archive, in a gesture that supports the ongoing distribution to key entities in the music sector, in order to ensure that future musicians and orchestra conductors have access to this valuable educational resource and historical reference. It also underscores the value of this material as a heritage reference of music in Cuba, reaffirming the commitment of both institutions to the promotion and preservation of Cuba's musical heritage, as well as to the training of new generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The presentation culminated with an emotional family performance. The prestigious pianist Aldo L\u00f3pez-Gavil\u00e1n, FAJ's music jury member, performed two of his own compositions, \"Memorias de un abuelo\" and \"Ep\u00edlogo\", while his daughters Andrea and Adriana paid tribute to their grandfather with arrangements of a song from the soap opera \"Sol de Batey\" and \"Pensamiento\", a popular old trova song.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
