Winner of the Second Visual Arts Call
Jhonatan Moreno (Matanzas, 1998) is a young visual artist graduated from the University of the Arts (ISA) in Cuba. He has participated in numerous group exhibitions since 2018, including "Vertigo," Jorge Peré (Taller Gorría Gallery, Havana, 2022); "Making ends meet, Joaquín Cabrera" (Ludwig Foundation, Havana 2023); Post It 10, Ariadna Cabrera, Patricia Santos and Abram Bravo Guerra (Galiano Gallery, Havana 2023) and "Juana de las flores," Maybel Elena Martínez and Yahíma Rodríguez (La Lavandería, Havana, 2023).

In addition, he has made several public interventions, such as "¿Acaso habremos habremos vendido nuestras almas?", in collaboration with Jorge Fernández (Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Havana, 2023); "Línea Macheteada" (Calle Manzano) and "A mano alzada" (Ríos Intermitentes II, as part of the XIV Havana Biennial) (Matanzas, Cuba 2022).

The Fondo de Arte Joven (FAJ) supports the project "ECCO", with the production of the works that integrate a retrospective exhibition of the work of the young visual artist in the last two years, and that is part of the staging of his graduation thesis from the Universidad de las Artes (ISA) of Cuba. Contributing in this way to insert him, already as an artist graduated at a higher level, in the Cuban artistic context. In addition to the accompaniment and methodological advice of the FAJ team.

The modalities of collaboration are flexible, as are the contributions. It is in our interest to establish co-financing agreements with entities that support operationally and/or financially, for example, specific calls for proposals. These specific actions managed by the Fondo de Arte Joven may have awards such as:

  • exhibitions in their respective art centers in Cuba and abroad.
  • donations of musical instruments and working materials for artists
  • national and international art residencies
  • publications
  • academic experiences
  • promotion
  • support for creative processes
