As a «Caravan to Matanzas», it came from the second edition of the National Music Competition to the city, an opportunity to promote creative processes that favor the spiritual growth, creativity and expression of adolescents.
Organized by the Fondo de Arte Joven (FAJ) and UNICEF Cuba, in the framework of the 80th anniversary of the United Nations, this event replicated for the first time outside Havana the experience of the first edition, with the musical direction of Janio Abreu, wind multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger and professor, musical director of the Competition.
It also favored creative exchanges with winners of the first edition, teachers and organizers of the contest, facilitating dialogue and the approach of musicians in artistic education and/or self-taught musicians to this particular initiative.
The Office of the City Conservator hosted this day full of art, which also inaugurated the photo exhibition «Enfocando mis derechos» (Focusing on my rights), which includes 35 images taken by Cuban children and adolescents on the 35th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The space was also joined by community projects such as Libélulas de Matanzas, from Red de Educadores Populares, and Jóvenes por la Vida, from ProSalud, promoting art as an engine of transformation and wellbeing for children, adolescents and young people.
