First Call for Proposals Program - Support for the production of Creative Projects.
Eldy Ortiz Díaz (Havana, 1994) graduated in Painting from the San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts in 2013 and in Scenic Design from the University of the Arts (ISA) in 2019. He has developed his career in analog and digital photography. He has participated in about a dozen group exhibitions, including Aquí (2023) at the Estudio Dagoberto Rodríguez and Pabellón (nuestra patria es estar vivos) (2023) at the Centro d’Artes de Aljustrel. He has also carried out the personal exhibitions Pneuma (2022) at the Galería – Taller Gorría and in 2013, Azabache (joint exhibition), at the “Carmelo” Gallery of the Casa de la Cultura de Plaza. In 2022 he received the “Raúl Corrales” Photographic Creation Scholarship, granted by the Fototeca de Cuba.

This project includes the conceptualization of a photobook and its production process; inspired by the town of San Felipe and Santiago del Bejucal. The snapshots will be made using photochemical processes. Returning to this type of analogical techniques, in a medium dominated by digital photography, creates a parallelism with the utopian idea of saving a village from the great machinery that crushes its essence.

The Youth Art Fund (YAF) supports the project Fotolibro: Cartografía de un pueblo with the acquisition of materials, support for mobility and stay in the study area, as well as in the production and printing of the photobook, in addition to the accompaniment and methodological advice from the YAF team.

The modalities of collaboration are flexible, as are the contributions. It is in our interest to establish co-financing agreements with entities that support operationally and/or financially, for example, specific calls for proposals. These specific actions managed by the Fondo de Arte Joven may have awards such as:

  • exhibitions in their respective art centers in Cuba and abroad.
  • donations of musical instruments and working materials for artists
  • national and international art residencies
  • publications
  • academic experiences
  • promotion
  • support for creative processes
