In an unprecedented artistic alliance, the Fondo de Arte Joven (FAJ) and the Habana Clásica International Festival (FIHC) join forces with the prestigious Havana International Ballet Festival to offer an exceptional cultural experience that fuses the best of classical music and dance. This collaboration will allow renowned musicians, who have excelled in previous editions of Habana Clásica and have collaborated with the FAJ as jurors and advisors, to perform emblematic works from the universal and Cuban musical repertoire in various choreographies of the festival.
Renowned Russian cellist and conductor Nikolay Shugaev will conduct all performances of "Swan Lake", the acclaimed ballet with music by composer P. I. Tchaikovsky. Likewise, the renowned Venezuelan conductor Daniel Gil will lead the Cuban version of the ballet "Carmen", with music by G. Bizet.
A stellar cast of international performers will share the stage with the etoiles The event's guests included prominent pianists such as Aldo López-Gavilán and Marcos Madrigal, president of the Asociación Cultural Habana Clásica, managing partner of FAJ's music profile, flutist Niurka González, as well as talented young Cubans such as pianist Daniela Rivero and the Alma String Quartet, the latter a beneficiary of FAJ's call for proposals program, among others.
The musical repertoire of this occasion will include works by great composers such as J. S. Bach, C. Saint-Saëns, S. Rachmaninoff, T. Carreño and E. Lecuona. Lecuona, thus ensuring an artistic proposal of the highest level.
For FAJ and Habana Clásica, this collaboration represents a great honor and an invaluable opportunity, assuming the responsibility of programming live music at the "Alicia Alonso" Havana International Ballet Festival, considered one of the most outstanding events on the international dance scene.
