Gabriel Raúl Cisneros Báez (Las Tunas, 1990) is one of Cuba’s most outstanding emerging visual artists. He graduated in the specialty of Sculpture from the Professional Academy of Visual Arts in his native province in 2009 and from the same specialty at the University of the Arts (ISA) with the action Sin razón, sin aliento y sin nada (2015), in whose statement he vindicated the figurations in his work. He has been a professor in the Department of Sculpture at that higher institute. He won Second Prize at Post-it 6 Cuban Contemporary Art contest and has participated in more than twenty group exhibitions nationally and internationally.
His solo exhibitions include Sobre jinetes y amantes (2022) at NG Art Gallery, Panama City, and Forastero en Tierra Extraña (2017) at Galería Galiano, Havana. His public works have been placed in countries such as Cuba, France, the United States, Belize, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Colombia and Chile. His work also appears in important collections, such as the Pérez Art Museum Miami Collection, the Los Carbonell Foundation in Panama City, and the Museo del Caribe in Barranquilla, Colombia. He has also participated in important biennials and art fairs such as the 13th and 14th editions of the Havana Biennial and the international art fairs Expo-Chicago (USA, 2016) and Art Madrid (Spain, 2022).
The Fondo de Arte Joven (FAJ) supports the project "El prestidigitador" in the production of the series of pieces that make up the exhibition, allowing him the culmination of what will be his personal exhibition, first in the Servando Gallery, contributing to his professional growth and visibility of his work in a platform of great prestige in the Cuban artistic context.
