The first day of exchange between the winners of the first edition of the National Music Contest, an initiative sponsored by the Fondo de Arte Joven and Unicef Cuba, which salutes the 35th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, took place between improvisation techniques and discussions on the history of Cuban music and heritage.
Accompanied by the multi-instrumentalist Janio Abreu, the students, from different schools and provinces of the country, exchanged theoretical and practical elements of popular music, fusion and the importance of preserving the heritage of music.
During this week, the young musicians will participate in an extensive program of activities that includes rehearsal sessions, master classes given by renowned Cuban musicians committed to children and UNICEF Cuba goodwill ambassadors. They will also take part in creative exchanges with young beneficiaries who are winners of FAJ's calls for proposals.
We thank the Félix Varela Cultural Center and its Chair of Sacred Music for hosting us at its headquarters in Havana. A place full of history and Cuban identity, which joins our efforts to turn utopias into art.
