First Call for Proposals Program - Support for the production of Creative Projects.
Mario Enrique Briño Alvarez (Havana, 1998) currently works actively in the production and development of video mapping as part of theater plays, among which we can mention Intimidad (2023); Kilómetro Cero o Medea (2022) and Player (2021). For his professional improvement, among other courses, he attended the DeepFake Workshop in 2022 and the Workshop on Image Hybridization Techniques: 3D Scanning and Photogrammetry in 2019. Both were taught by experimental artist Thomas Hochwallner at the Laboratory of Art and Technology (LAT), Ludwig Foundation of Cuba. He held his solo exhibition Un solo rey es el que gobierna a un pueblo (2017) in Havana and has about fifteen group exhibitions to his credit, including his participations in exhibitions at the Havana Biennial, and the 2nd edition of Puzzle: Repasos al arte joven (2021), at the Galería – Taller Gorría.

"Tapar la luna con un dedo" is made up of two works that question the viewer about his or her position on the different types of violence against women. It is inspired by an existing research on the subject, with the intention of capturing the essence of the facts. In the Cuban social context, the project is intended to be exhibited in vulnerable communities in Old Havana.

The Youth Art Fund (YAF) supports this project with the acquisition of the required technical equipment for the execution of the exhibition, which will contribute to the creative sustainability of the artist by providing him with his own equipment for the creation of his artistic work. Additionally, the YAF team provides accompaniment and methodological advice.

The modalities of collaboration are flexible, as are the contributions. It is in our interest to establish co-financing agreements with entities that support operationally and/or financially, for example, specific calls for proposals. These specific actions managed by the Fondo de Arte Joven may have awards such as:

  • exhibitions in their respective art centers in Cuba and abroad.
  • donations of musical instruments and working materials for artists
  • national and international art residencies
  • publications
  • academic experiences
  • promotion
  • support for creative processes
