The Fondo de Arte Joven (FAJ) and the Fundación Los Carbonell (FLC) / NG Art Gallery, partner and manager of the visual arts profile of the platform, will present in Havana the catalog of the first edition of the competition malaYerbaThe event will be held in this city in November 2023.
The presentation will take place on January 24, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at the Theater Hall of the National Museum of Fine Arts, Cuban Art Building, as part of the collateral actions of the 15th Havana Biennial, and the celebration of FAJ's two-year anniversary.
The volume includes valuable texts by Corina Matamoros, essayist and curator of the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes de Cuba, Neida Peñalver, historian and coordinator of the FAJ platform, and Sandra García, curator of the FLC.
The edition compiles the work of the twenty-three finalists of the first edition of the contest, a solid selection of young artists who live and work on the island.
This material, carefully designed by the Consense Studioedited by Sheyla Valladares and printed by Spanish publisher Selvi Graphic Artsnot only constitutes a fundamental tool for emerging artists, allowing them to present their work in a professional and accessible manner, but also contributes to broaden the reach of the work of these talented exponents.
September 2024 malaYerba organized its second edition, in which the works of 29 young finalists were exhibited, establishing itself as a space where the new voices of Cuban art find a place to express themselves and connect with the public.
Those who attend this meeting will be able to dialogue with the young protagonists of the first edition, as well as curators, critics and researchers of the visual arts, entrepreneurs and collaborators of the FAJ since its foundation.
