With the opening of the group show Hasta la raíz. Identidades en cuestión, last Thursday, November 21, the Fondo de Arte Joven (FAJ) and the Los Carbonell Foundation / NG Art Gallery, partner and manager of the platform's visual arts profile, celebrated the meeting and defense of the self-identity of a group of artists from Latin America, Cuba and Africa.
Some twenty pieces make up the exhibition, which addresses themes related to nationality, wealth, gender, race, sexuality, whose poetics are marked by the way their authors relate to history, society and culture, in dialogue with the “shared horizons” proposed by the 15th Havana Biennial.
Hasta la raíz. Identidades en cuestión will be open to the public at the Salón Blanco Gallery until January 2025, and it focuses on the significance of recognizing ourselves as human beings, similar, all deserving of a place in this same world.
This exhibition joins seven others held by the FAJ since its founding in January 2023, thus reinforcing the strategic alliances that enable regional exchanges between young Cuban and international creators.
