Published:

September 28, 2023

On September 19, a round of questions was held between the team of the International Committee for the Development of the Peoples CISP, A Ritmo de Inclusión, the Fondo de Arte Joven (FAJ) and several leaders of creative projects aspiring to the call for entrepreneurship, recently launched by the Fund.

This is an opportunity to support cultural enterprises, projects and initiatives with an emphasis on the music and visual arts sectors, in the creation, production, dissemination and promotion/exhibition of their work.

Applications from interested parties are received through the application form available on the following website in this link.

We have compiled the concerns raised at this meeting and share them with our community.

-What are cultural and creative enterprises?

Projects, initiatives, collectives or individuals that develop activities that contribute to the cultural and creative industry in Cuba, with a trajectory and a perspective of sustainability.

-How do I know if my venture applies for this call?

Projects must be developed within one of the following sectors of the cultural and creative industry: music, visual arts, cultural events, production of cultural events, festivals, audiovisual and digital content.

-The work schedule should not exceed 6 months.

The intention of this call is to support the implementation and sustainability of projects, initiatives and/or cultural undertakings in Cuba. During this period of time, the Fondo de Arte Joven contributes to make visible, produce or implement certain actions planned by the beneficiaries.

-Can I apply if my project is in the process of becoming a MSME, PDL, TCP?

You can apply as a natural person, individually or collectively, as cultural managers, creators and artists who lead a creative project, or any other form of economic management (newly created or in process); as long as your proposal has a track record in the creative industries sector and demonstrates its sustainability.

The call for applications will be available until October 2, 2023. Then, between October 5 and 13 of the same month, the applications will be evaluated in a transparent and impartial manner by external Selection Committees with personalities of recognized prestige in the above-mentioned areas of expertise.

The results will be announced on our social media profiles on October 16, 2023, when the winners will also be notified.

The modalities of collaboration are flexible, as are the contributions. It is in our interest to establish co-financing agreements with entities that support operationally and/or financially, for example, specific calls for proposals. These specific actions managed by the Fondo de Arte Joven may have awards such as:

  • exhibitions in their respective art centers in Cuba and abroad.
  • donations of musical instruments and working materials for artists
  • national and international art residencies
  • publications
  • academic experiences
  • promotion
  • support for creative processes
