Fog

Personal exhibition.
Salón Blanco Gallery, March - June, 2024.
Niebla intends to evoke the pictorial language to understand the transience of the gaze, what exists beyond a perception towards a habitual entity. Above all, it is an analysis of the other in space, a displacement of these images towards the environment of the painting, where the orientation of the light and the atmosphere surrounding these characters are reconstructed.
It is a work built from the memory of the images and not from the physical reality. In that case, why not take the technical effect or defect and paint it in an interpretation of your own?
To build a studium -as Barthes would say in photography-, and to analyze the works as a kind of confrontation, where gesturality is recognizable as a tendency to expose the imperfect nature of a guild.
The artist is interested in art that is timeless and that is recognized in areas of the greatest possible uncertainty, in any space or in the combination of various qualities; in that sense, it is conducive for its reading to be like the particular experience of the viewer.
For the viewer, most of the characters in these works are anonymous, unknown; but the artist has grown up observing them, living with them; sometimes as a stalker, other times, involved as a participant in their life stories. A very particular context surrounds them: the Nuclear City, in the Cuban province of Cienfuegos, the creator's birthplace, where the fog still seems not to dissipate.
